It is a capilliary style which means it has a hollow cable with bulb attached (approx 72" long) that has mercury inside and the heat expands and reads more accurately than electrical gauges that are fitted as standard on some models.
These bolt into the temp sensor hole of the cyl head on 998 /1100, but need an adaptor to suit 1275 as the hole in the head of a 1275 is bored straight through. We also sell this adaptor. The gauge shows in Fahrenheit or Celsius
